The art of figure carving always attracts the interest of viewers. But unusual filigree patterns can decorate skirts, and pullovers, and a variety of accessories.

Around the waist

The fashionable wide cumberbird belt is decorated with a floral pattern.

Note: The motive for cutting is given at the top in the photo show, next to the photo of the model from Isabel Marant.

You will need

Ready-made wide tied leather belt, school chalk, transparent paper, small scissors with sharp tips, hole punch, textile glue.

How to do

Mark a midline on the belt. Spread the edges on both sides of this line to a length of 15 cm. Glue the details of the belt with textile glue (cover all the gluing areas completely). Stitch open sections again. Glue to dry completely.
Fold the transparent paper in half, first vertically and then horizontally. The folded paper is thus applied to the motif so that the folds lie on the dashed lines. Copy motive, cut gray areas. Transfer the cut out parts of the motive with chalk along the line of the middle of the front to the seamy side of the belt and cut it out, see also the step-by-step instructions for the hat at the end of the article.

Skirt with clearance

The usual pleated model is complemented by a piping along the upper edge, leaflets and a wide lace border - the whole leather decor!

You will need:

Ready-made skirt, for the border - genuine or artificial leather 17 cm wide, length = length of the lower edge of the skirt. And also: school chalk, transparent paper, small scissors with sharp tips, hole punch, sewing thread, textile glue.
Tip: The border can be sewn from several parts by completing the side seams and the rear middle seam. If you want to make a border of a different width, you need to adjust the motive for cutting accordingly.

How to do

On the seamy side of the skin, mark the width and length of the border. On the narrow sides, give allowances for seams 1 cm wide. Cut the border, grind the narrow sides, lay out the allowances in different directions and glue.
Use the motif for the hat (see the photo show above, the last motif on the right). Transfer the motif to paper, cut out the gray areas, see the step-by-step instructions for the hat. Place a border under the lower edge of the skirt to a width of 2 cm and pin it. Sew the bottom edge to the hem 1.5 cm wide.

In the style of art country

Hats are back in fashion - especially if they are decorated in such an unusual way.
The motive for cutting is given at the top in the photo show, the last on the right.

You will need:

Felt hat, school chalk, transparent paper, small scissors with sharp tips, hole punch.

Step 1: translate the motive

Fold the transparent paper in the middle, first vertically, then horizontally. Place folded paper on the motif so that the folds lie on the dashed lines. Cut the motive, then call up the gray areas. Lay out the paper.
Chop the template for cutting on the hat and paint over all the cut-out lines with chalk.

Step 2: cut the motive

White painted areas are neatly cut. Be careful: there should be jumpers at the edges!

Step 3: make small holes

Pierce small round holes with a hole punch.
