Fleece - what a "soft" and mysterious word. In fact, everything is very simple - this is a synthetic knitted fabric made of polyester.
Fleece is most often used for the manufacture of warm sportswear, jackets, hats, sweaters. Today, this material is also actively used in the tailoring of children's things, blankets and plaids. Despite the fact that it is synthetics, fleece has good breathing properties, which means that the child will not sweat in clothes made of it, which clothing from other synthetic materials cannot boast of. The fleece is elastic; clothes made of it do not constrain movements. The fabric heats well even when wet. And which is especially important for children's clothing, fleece does not cause allergies. To sew From this fabric, children's things are quite easy and quick, since its edges are not loose and do not require special treatment. The main thing is to choose high-quality fabric from well-known manufacturers. The price in this case matters - good fleece fabrics are expensive. And remember that mostly warm clothes are sewn from these fabrics.
Fleece products do not require special care. Therefore, they can wash in a washing machine using a special children's washing powder (we recommend Tide Kids) Temperature 40 degrees. Fleece is not easily soiled, so any dirt is easily washed off. Products, even after repeated washing, retain their original shape, color and remain soft as new. Things from fleece dry quickly.
Expert Opinion
The moderator of our site, an engineer-technologist of sewing production, a sewing teacher, Svetlana Khatskevich, gives our readers some more valuable recommendations on caring for children's items from fleece:
Fleece - knitwear with a soft pile surface - a real find for those who can not knit. Like knitted thingsIt is light, soft, moderately elastic, warm and very comfortable to wear. Now everything is sewn from it - from booties to warm hats with scarves. And also suits, overalls, pants, blouses and sweatshirts. It is also placed as an insulating lining on jackets, windcheaters, pants and overalls. But remember - the fleece does not slip well, so it’s still better to put a regular sliding lining in the sleeves.
Unlike knitted items, the fleece does not stretch, does not deform, so things from it do not lose shape and do not sit in size. Fleece products are worn for a long time and are easily washed in the machine.
The only rule is fleece doesn't like heat! Therefore, it is washed at low temperatures, like synthetics, and is practically not ironed.
Fleece of bright colors can fade, so try not to mix several bright colors in one thing and do not soak fleece products. Then they will delight you and your baby for a long time.
