Children all over Russia with the help of IKEA and Grigory Oster have created a real "family encyclopedia".
Adults often do not notice how surprising and sincere the children's view of the world is, and do not attach great importance to "small" ideas. Meanwhile, children with their limitless imagination and creative approach to any business sometimes know much more than adults. The main characters of the unscientific "study", which formed the basis of the book, were boys and girls from all over Russia. It was their incredible stories about which families live in urban high-rise buildings, how children and adults spend time at home, as well as about many other things that distinguish the residents of one apartment from the "neighboring" one, which formed the basis of the new book of the writer "Quarting. Types of families and their habitat. "
The most amazing and unusual children's stories collected during the "unscientific" study came to life in Oster's stories: based on real facts, he created a kind of classification of families, and IKEA designers proposed a unique interior for each family, reflecting its characteristics, hobbies and lifestyle. For example, a family of three generations living together turned into the Nesoschityaykins - with an endless table that can accommodate all relatives, a myriad of cutlery and family photos.
“Thanks to all those who took part in the“ Apartment Studies ”project, we were once again convinced that every family and home is unique. And also that a limitless children's imagination transforms any space, and the ideas of the smallest family members should not be ignored. In support of this year's theme - “Do what you want” - we addressed the children directly, drew advertisements with them, shot videos and, finally, wrote a book about the family and the house together! It was an amazing experience for all of us ””, Said Nicholas Jonsson, Head of IKEA Retail Network Marketing in Russia.
The book is available in two versions: paper and interactive, which can be viewed and even downloaded on the site. The paper version of the book is a colorful edition in which each of the 10 families is devoted not only to a poem in the usual and beloved style of Grigory Oster, but also a short story from the famous author. Detailed illustrations that can be viewed in a special magnifying glass, photos of real families in unusual interiors and an index with the solutions proposed by designers make the book interesting for both children and adults.
The digital version of "Apartment Studies" is a virtual world in which the Vampires, Holidays, Adults and seven other families live. All visitors to the site are waiting for:
• A quest game where you need to help knit a sweater, set the table, look for missing porcelain horses and solve many other important and important tasks facing the members of the families described in the book;
• Interiors - interesting and unusual solutions proposed by the best IKEA designers for each family, which can be considered in detail;
• A gallery of animated photographs of real families whose stories are included in the book, and an interactive illustration created by Rod Hunt, a British illustrator who is famous for his attention to detail.
Gregory Oster: "I wanted to create a book about how modern families work, and IKEA designers, in addition, were still thinking about how to create a space for each family in which she would be comfortable living. And I also wrote the book for the first time in collaboration with children! "
